Ed, welcome to the club, in more ways than one.
After reading your story I think a lot of us can have some empathy. "Ready to
race, eh?" Heard that one before!
I think a lot of us have been down the same road as you concerning our cars.
Your story sounds a lot like mine, except for the 510 idiot (knock on wood!).
Replace, rebuild, repair, re-do, re-engineer, re-wire, etc. I think I've kept
Richard Good in business the last few years, along with TRF, Ted, and Jegs!
The good news is that I can do most of my own work, except body work, and have
all the tools to work with, including a lift.
Lots of time and money went into my TR6.
The thing is, I wouldn't trade the experience for anything! I've had a blast
and met a whole bunch of great people. A lot of guys helped or gave advice
when I started out. Now, I've had the pleasure of helping out some other guys.
I usually carry way too much stuff to the races, but have helped out fellow
drivers on occasion. It's all good!
Best of luck in your racing. But keep in mind the old saying, "There's no such
thing as luck, you make your own" I'd like to say Kas said it, but I think it
was some guy named Shelby.
The main thing about vintage racing: HAVE FUN!
Bill
