Bob,
The 2012 GCR still has 15x7" for all TRs in EP.
No experience with a 10-inch rim width, but the G19s on my EP TR4 were a similar
10.4" section width and needed about a 4-inch fender flare with huge wheel wells
to allow steering range. Guess if you've been running G19s you must have that
covered already. I tried an Autocross just once on R430s and it was
embarrassing, like driving on ice :-)
Regards,
Gary Schneider

Subject: [Fot] Tire / Wheel Query
Hi,
TR6, F Prepared Solo car.
I was shopping for tires yesterday and my fallback plan (Goodyear G19's) fell
through as the company has none in stock in the R250 compound and there's
nothing on the production schedule in the coming month.
No biggie, I'll just get a set of Hoosiers later when I actually need them.
Turns out the set on the car now probably have a few events' life in them.
But I then started thinking that a lot of the fast guys in Solo are now running
16x10 wheels and the various radial tires (which seem to be in supply) also seem
to be available in soft (GY R250 compound). But the switch would mean going to
10 inch wide wheels.
I'm pretty sure that fitment shouldn't be a huge deal other than the wallet hit,
but I thought I might ping the list to see if anyone can offer any experience
either with 16 x 10 wheels or running the straight sidewall radial (or bias, if
they are available) race tires.
And yes, I know it's not vintage.
:-)
On the same topic, I haven't looked at a GCR for 5 years or so, but is E Prod
still limited to 15x7 wheels?
