[Fot] TR4 expansion tank question

I think here is a confusion going on.

Expansion tank - tank that is under pressure and keeps extra coolant in store. Needs to be the highest spot of the system.

Overflow bottle - catches the forced out water. Needs to be lower than the filler cap.

Question:  why does the placement need to be above the thermostat level when
the stock bottle was mounted near the bottom of the engine (on a GT6 anyway)?
