Outstanding buy without the depreciation of a brand new one.

Great Iowa product produced about one hour from me.

Subject: [Fot] Bought a trailer

List,

Thanks to everyone for providing great input on trailers and what to
look for.

I bought a 18 ft. Featherlite 3110 all aluminum trailer and the seller
delivered it to my house today. The trailer has only a few thousand
miles on it and it's in great shape. It only weights 1400 lbs. with a
7000 lb towing capacity. The ramps are 6 ft. and very light and easy
to handle. The tires are like new and it has a couple of nice options
(wind shield, tool box, ball lock, locks for ramps) And I don't have
buyer's remorse unlike a lot of things I've bought...I'm actually
pretty stoked.

I have always admired the Featherlite trailers so now I finally have
one. I went with an open trailer for less wind resistance and
buffeting so hopefully the gas mileage won't suffer as much as with an
enclosed trailer. I'll be towing mostly around Colorado until I get
too old to drive to VTR and then the TR6 will probably be hauled on
it. Until then it should work for towing a race car to the local
races. I went with all aluminum for the low maintenance and that the
light weight (about half of steel trailers the same size). I went for
18 ft. since everyone said it'd be easier to tie down the car than a
shorter trailer.

Crazy thing is the seller lived 1/2 a mile from me.

One of the many great tips I got from the list was to take a 2x4 the
same length as my wheelbase and put nails in the ends equal to my
ground clearance. That really helped so I didn't have to drive the car
onto every trailer I looked at to tell if it would drag or not (thanks
to Duncan for that one).

Thanks again for all the great ideas and input. It made this process
much easier.

Regards
Bud Rolofson
