[Fot] TR2 Tires

Yes, I ran the wires as they were that 1/2" wider than the steel wheels. they
were a LOT heavier what with wire wheel adapter and knock-off hub. I would
probably have been faster with the discs but the wires looked very cool and
when you are in your 20's, cool is it!. Actually with the way I was always
pitching the car I doubt the steel disc would have lasted very long and the
spokes would break and give you a change to recover, but when disc breaks, you
are gone.

Kas: Am I coorrect in assuming that you used the wire wheels because they were
1/2" wider than the stock steel wheels? Surely they must weigh the same, if
not a bit more tham steel wheels.

When I was racing my TR-3 it was always with the 48 spoke wheels the others
were not allowed. I'd break two or three ever race and every prictice. Got
pretty good at replacing them quickly without dismounting the tires. It is
just not a big deal. Steet driving on 48 spokers? they'll probably last
another fifty years. It wasn't until I started using sticky recaps that I
had
the spoke problem.
