[Fot] Any TR7 or TR8 racers in the group?

Thanks for the response Joe.

Bruce and I are solid Triumph guys. My first street car at age 19 was a 68
Spitfire as was my first race car. Many years ago when we were young lads
racing our Spits, Bruce also owned a TR3 and has always wanted another one.
He's just completing a restoration
at the moment. The car will be immaculate when completed.

I know Ted Schumacher quite well. He built my TR8 engine for my street car
about 20 yrs ago. Interesting story on my TR8. I sold it in 1995 and then
bought it back three owners later in 2010.

Other sources I know is Woody from the Wedge Shop in Mass and Peter Bulkowski
in Ontario. Peter races an IMSA TR8 that was prepared for him 30+ yrs by Group
44. If we go the TR8 we won't go that wild.
We'd prepare our car more like a SCCA CP TR8 from that era.

  Nice introduction....thanks!

The TR7 and The TR8 is becoming more and more a part of vintage racing. It's
inevitable as time marches on.

You can help us promote the idea as a logical expansion of Triumph racing
with your TR7.

It is likely your TR7 would be accepted in the 2013 Kastner Cup and consider
this a sincere invitation, to join us in September of 2013.

I hope you hear from some folks on your questions. I think Ted Schumacher is
a specialist in Wedges, but you likely already know that.

This is my first post so I hope I'm doing this correctly.

My name is Greg Kerr. I own a Triumph TR8 on the street. My friend Bruce
Luke (TR3 owner) and I have just purchased an immaculate period correct
racing TR7 from member Paul McDonald. Bruce and I raced
Spitfires together as young bucks in the 1970's and now that we've both just
turned 60, we've decided to relive the foolishness of our youth and get back
into racing. :-)

The car is very tricked out but currently has only a mildly modified TR7
engine in it. This setup will be fine for our first season in 2013. We
haven't raced for a long time so this engine will get us through driver's
school and
our novice races in the first season.

For 2014 we're not quite sure what we want to with the engine but are
considering a either a dolomite sprint engine or converting to the Rover 3.5
V8. We already have a sprint head and also have two V8 engines. I'm tending
to lean towards
the V8 as I'm familiar with that engine but Bruce is keen on the sprint
engine. Its really an either or, since we could go either way.

There is lots of tuning info and resources for the V8 in North America but
we can't find any resources on the sprint engine on our side of the pond.
Just wondering if anybody in the group has any experience or thoughts about
racing a standard TR7 8 valve vs dolomite sprint engine vs the V8.

Greg
