It's not too often that you get to run the first race weekend at a new
track. Patty had the opportunity this last weekend to run the first
SCCA race at the new venue near Shelton Washington, The Ridge
Motorsports Park. There were 4 Triumphs racing at the event, more than
I have seen at a Northwest SCCA event in decades. Steve Hare was there
in his Spitfire, Charlie Mitchell in his TR6, John James in his TR4 and
Patty Norlin in our Spitfire.
The weekend was not without issues, but the track was awesome from what
I was told - I only took a couple of laps at low speed in an ancient
Cortina. The facility is a work in progress, but the word was that the
track owner, after seeing how crowded the paved pit areas were, decided
that the next phase of pit paving would be double what they were
planning to do. 2.5 miles, 16 turns, lots of elevation change and some
really challenging turn sequences.
Check out the video of the last lap and a half from Saturday's race.
This is from our Spitfire with Patty driving. Charlie is in front, and
you can catch glimpses of John in Patty's mirror.
