That was my impress that the stock items do work properly.
Why it is so difficult to make this gear? Is there a mistake value in the blue prints?
A reground cam never can do the same profile as a new blank.
Maybe it is time to find out more about this issue and solve it.

Are you talking about OEM reground cams or new chilled iron cams?
I have never seen the issue on an OEM cam, but I have seen it countless
times on new cams. Cutting that gear is pretty tricky, I suppose.
My solution is only run regrinds.
As far as your question about nitriding, if the cam gear is not cut right,
hardening will just waste more money.
