If I remember the ratings, SJ was the good stuff, which is now
impossible to find. SM is the low zinc rating. There is an
intermediate SL rating which is available in straight weight oils. That
is what I've been using in my old cars that I run on the street without
using any zinc additives. These are fair weather cars anyway, so I
don't see the need for multi-visc.
