Hi everyone,
Brad and I have decided to start the search for a good tow vehicle. Right
now we are using a 1992 Ford F-350 diesel dually that we want to stop
shoveling money into, and have a 1990 Ford F-150 that Brad drives to work,
and a 1991 Mazda B2200 that is very rusty underneath. We figured we needed
to dump all of the above and get one truck we can tow the horse trailer and
possibly the race trailer (we usually use the Airstream or Dakota for that)
with, that he can also drive about 12 miles on a daily basis.
We thought we would tap the power of the list and ask if anyone knows of a
decent used truck we would be interested in. We are very budget-conscious
and are looking for the best deal we can get, and probably will have about
$7,500-9,500 to spend.
Specs we are interested in:
- 3/4 ton single rear axle
- Diesel preferred but will take a gas engine in the right truck
- Automatic transmission
- Towing package
- Extended cab preferred (or crew cab if the right truck)--no standard cabs
- Good a/c and heat system
- Power steering and brakes
- Good overall condition and no rust
We are willing to drive a ways to get the right truck home (we're in
central Kentucky), but far west destinations are probably out, just due to
the time/distance involved.
Thank you very much for any help you can give us!
Keep Triumphing,
Susan :)
