Some personal comments: Bill Dalton was a 'permanent fixture' at road
racing events here in the Midwest. He was at Blackhawk Farms Raceway almost
every week end, and if he wasn't there he was at Autobahn, Grattan or Road
America. Usually at the Black Flag Station, but he'd also do rescue, pace car,
corner station, or whatever. He was VSCDA's Chief of Tech for many, many
years.
But not everyone knew he was one of the original 'Jersey Boys', having
played guitar in the early rock and roll group...the Royal Teens. He was still
getting royalties for 'Short Shorts'. He was in several movies, including
'Let's Rock.' Bill used to work hard to convey his gruff 'Jersey' roots, but
those who knew him well, knew that he was actually kind of a softy and very
sensitive. He was full of passion for good causes and made for a good
friend. He leaves a hole in amateur road racing in the Illinois/Wisconsin
area...he WILL BE MISSED.
