[Fot] use of BRONZE GUIDES

I've used bronze guides for many years, never a problem. Key is a trusted
machinist as Steve states. Mine has been building British race engines for
more than thirty years. He even tapered the guides for flow without even being
asked.
Now he is swamped prepping heads for Japanese cars.

Outstanding posts on this subject.

Thank you everyone.

RISK MANAGEMENT.....with the information made available, so far, folks can
make a more intelligent decision about who they have do their heads and be
able to ask better questions.

Thanks again....keep the comments coming. It's good to see the FOT LIST
alive and well.

It might be good to know the trusted source of the best bronze guides.

I was about to make a post very similar to Greg's posting. I explored this
with my trusted machinist after watching several instances of stuck valves in
TR4 heads. He explained that it was the silicon-bronze guides that were
causing all the trouble and recommended going to the manganese-bronze as Greg
has stated. I've had no issues with that advice. Knock on Wood ;-))
