[Fot] Exhaust gas temp probe location

Greetings FoT,

I'm looking for some opinions on probe location . I use the Westach

dual EGT gauge which I bought used, it didn't include the users manual.

I locatedB the probes B about 1.25" from the flange. Last season I was plagued

with high EGT's while jetting very rich and running timing on the retarded
side.

In the process of updating my build book I downloaded the Westach users manual

and it says to locate the probes 6" from the flange. I can't say I have ever
seen

probes that far away from the flange.

Input would be appreciated.
