it would seem that the latter sleeve would be the shorter one.

due to running amuck of the the fingers.

i think i encountered this about 25 years ago on my TR3A

and since then on the early TR4 when converting to later clutch.

Thanks to all who responded. The "three finger" style pressure plate uses
the "short" sleeve measuring 1.380 inches in length and the "diaphragm"
style pressure plate uses the "long" sleeve measuring 1.890 inches in
length.
The later long sleeves have a roll pin through the slot that engages
the fork and I'm thinking this is to keep the sleeve from rotating on the
transmission "snout" and causing excessive wear.
Other than the two different styles of pressure plates, the clutch
parts seem to be the same from the TR2 through the TR6, according to the
Moss catalogs.

Are the clutch throw out bearing sleeves for the TR2 to early TR4's with the
"three finger" style pressure plates which use the "flat" face throw out
bearings interchangeable with the clutch throw out bearing sleeves for the
later TR4, TR4A and TR6's with the "diaphragm" style pressure plates which
use the "conical" or "spherical" face throw out bearings?

Thanks,

Tim
