Congratulations! Sounds like a good start. You should look into a better
lubricant or possible a pump and an oil cooler for the differential oil.
Overfilling the diff by about 1/2 pint of gear oil may also help.. We normally
use Chevron "Delos" special Heavy Duty gear lubes with great success. I under
stand that they were developed for use in the Nissan IMSA GTP cars which were
having reliability issues. I was told that switching to the Delo oil fixed the
problems the team was having.
Maybe Kas can add something to this information. We often add a gear oil
additive made by "lubguard" It comes in a yellow bottle and is labled "gear
oil supplement"
It is an extreme pressure additive that also adds slipperiness to the oil. So
it should not be used in a "clutch type" limited slip diff. as it will likely
make the clutches slip!
The differential should not be getting hotter than 130 to 140 degrees, in my
opinion. Hot to the touch is ok, burn your hand on the diff hot is not ok.
