Pretty much on the mark, though I would add that while us TR and MG folks were
worried about each other, the Porsche 356 and Alfa guys said the same things
about us that we now say about the Mazda Miata.

It's all relative.

And it is sad that our taste in cars is fading away.  The roads used to be
crawling with small, four cylinder, relatively affordable sports cars from
more than a few manufacturers. Now there is only the Miata.  And while it
sells in numbers that would make the Nuffield Organization/BMC/BLMC/JRT blush,
it is only a mere automotive footnote on a bygone era.

Who will carry the torch of the sports car ethic in the next generation?

We are dinosaurs, ladies and gents.
