The goal is prevent hydration. Cosmolene comes to mind. If you want an oil based product that is amazing.. Try Ballistol spray. I use it for storing firearms. Simply amazing.

Amici,

We have a bunch of spare engine blocks laying around the shop and I'm
wondering what is the best way to store them. I normally set them on
a block of wood but I'm wondering if setting them on concrete might
not be better.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks!
