[Fot] Building 6-cyl Spitfire

Does he have any plans to set the engine back further in the chassis to
maintain the weight balance? With the swing-axles, I'm not sure I'd
want to drive one with the GT6 (or TR6) motor in the stock location.

A friend of mine has created a Spit-6 racer which he runs in one of
Midwestern Council's unrestricted categories. He moved the engine back
approximately 4 inches, so that the stock engine mounts attach to a new
mounting tab welded to the "spring tower".

The little bugger really goes!

Subject: [Fot] Building 6-cyl Spitfire

Hi all-

One of my sons is building a 6-cyl Spitfire as a winter project. He
already
has the Spitfire and a donor GT6 Mk 3 and is a more-than-capable
mechanic.

This will be his second 6-cyl Spit but the first was a quick and dirty
project
built over 20 years ago.

Any helpful suggestions? Pitfalls to avoid? Sources? He will undoubtedly
go
for power mods.

No need to bore the whole list with this project so please contact me at
mlcooknj at msn.com

Thanks!!

Mike Cook
