This in two parts since it's over the FOT limit:
No, not mine, that's in bits and pieces.
Joe Alexander is bringing his AMBRO to the CRC. Joe is unsure of how
much he'll be racing it, the car hasn't been up to speed anywhere yet,
but it will make it's maiden appearance at the John McCartney Triumph
Tour in Minneapolis and then it will come to Portland. I'm posting a
short story and pictures on the CRC site tonight. It's a GREAT looking
car.
With any luck at all it will at least be on the track for the Kastner
Cup event.
Incidentally, I don't know if any of you noticed the new schedule.
It's still tentative as far as times go, but the Featured race will be
the Kastner Cup race.
You might also note that Horizon Racing immediately stepped up and
sponsored the Kastner Cup race. SOVREN solicits sponsors to name the
races at the CRC. Tony Garmey beat us all to the Kastner Cup race, but
if anyone wants to name a race associated with Triumphs, the TR3s will
probably all be in group 1, the TR4 and other production Triumphs will
most likely be in group 2. I suspect the TR250 will be in group three
and they'll toss Peyote in there as well so Tony can kick my butt.
Contact SOVREN directly if you want to do this. Here's the particulars
on race sponsorship and the races that are available for named
sponsorship as of last week:
THE COLUMBIA RIVER CLASSIC NEEDS YOU!
The PNW Historics were great, Baxters is history, Mission will soon
be history so lets look ahead to Labor Day Weekend.
For 2009 SOVREN will again be presenting the Columbia River Classic in
Portland on Labor Day weekend- Sept. 5-7. This year we are featuring
Triumphs and are pleased to be hosting the 2009 Kastner Cup. We are
determined to give you a high quality racing experience with the laid-
back atmosphere that has been so popular at this event. As in
previous years, we will share PIR with the All British Field Meet,
making the venue a delight for sports car fans. Even more exciting
news is that we have just learned that there will be no drag races at
PIR either Friday or Saturday nights so we will have the whole paddock
to ourselves and a peaceful evening for those who are camping at the
track. Our popular Saturday night vintage party and the track BBQ
have been rolled into one extravaganza at the track on Sunday night.
There are many advantages to this- no long wait for that pesky bus or
search for a parking space in St. Johns, no getting lost driving
there, plenty of food for all and places to sit while enjoying it. We
will have music, good food, and, of course, the vintage fashions, so
dust off those vintage duds and be ready to rock on.
How can you help? First, make sure you plan to enter the race and
spread the word as you meet other vintage drivers. The deadline for
the early bird entry fee is postmarked by August 10st so dont forget
to get your entry in by then. We had 165 entrants last year and hope
to have as many or more in 2009. If you want to be featured in the
program we need your entry as soon as possible so please send it in
earlier than the deadline!!!!! The deadline for getting the finished
program to the ABFM is August 12th so we need to know if you are
entering as soon as possible (and I promise I wont cash your entry
check until September).
