McLaren reportedly has the data to prove that Lewis DID lift, and I
doubt that they would present the appeal without being able to prove
this fact.
The other point is that why did the stewards confirm, not once, but
twice, that it was a good move, and then penalize him after the race
ended?
In any event, it sure will be interesting to see what happens...

They way I saw it:
After short cutting a corner you have to actively let the other
pass.
Hamilton was ON throttle all the time and Raikonen had to active
overtake him which took time and way to La Source.
>From my point of view the punishment was okay.
If Hamilton wouldn’t have shortcut and stayed behind
Raikonen then the Ferrari would never had give up lead to the next
corner.
Cheers

I wouldn't be too happy about having FIA stewards on my
side, unless I was the recipient ofA
0their fines. There just isn't
enough differential speed between these cars, especially in that corner,
for that argument to hold water. My hero Kimi
squeezed Hamilton off the corner--very clear in the video. That's OK,
nice tactical move. Hamilton lifts, Kimi goes by, then Hamilton crosses
behind
him (no inertia remaining there) and passes on the other side.
There isn't a racing organization in existence that would
consistently call that an illegal pass--especially the FIA. It's one of
those
decisions where the stewards insert their authority into the results.
Despicable.
Not that I'm passionate about F1 or anything...

I watched the race too. How does someone have

a faster vehicle doesn't that defy the laws of physics?
Approaching La Source Kimi had more speed and better position. The
issue is not one of inertia but rather the argument that if Lewis had
not shortcut the chicane would he have been that close to Kimi for
the run to La Source to try and outbrake him.
Try watching the videos then you won't have to rely on your faulty :)
memory.
You may agree with the stewards but three20time world champs Lauda and
Stewart don't. I bet the FIA overturns the stewards.

I didn't ignore it, I didn't even watch it. I did

let Kimi creep
back in front of him without giving up the inertia that got
him in front in
the first place. It was that inertia that allowed him
to immediately regain
the lead and that in my opinion was why the move was
illegal. Clearly the
Stewards agree with my assessment.
