Thanks for all the input folks. It seems the Isuzu 2.6 starter will
basically bolt in, but it seems to be the exact same length once fitted, so
that does not help me. What I really wanted was a starter that was at least
1" shorter than the Lucas one. The same info must apply to TR6 etc. I was
sure someone had posted once about a conversion that was shorter.  Thanks
