By virtue of the fact that we've not seen a ton of them can we conclude there 
was no advantage?

Years ago someone from California sent me some pictures of a custom TR2 
manifold with duel Amal carbs he wanted to sell.  It was interesting, but in light 
of the fact I never saw any others, I had to assume it was not an upgrade.
