[Fot] single wire mini alternator thread?

So what is the advantage to using this smaller alternator for racing?
What about just unplugging the stock alternator?

I recall in the past there was some discussion of the Nippon Denso
alternator application that was a single wire mini unit that many have
started using for race applications. What was that application?
