[Fot] Valve Spring lateral movement?

I am cleaning up a GT6 head someone else prepped and assembled.  The valve
springs can be pushed sideways +/- 3/32" where they rest on the head.  Prior
heads I have worked on had hat shaped (in profile) stamped "washers" that
prevented this because the crown of the "hat" fit into the inside diameter of
the spring and the hole through the middle fit fairly precisely around the
valve guide.

Does it matter?  Will the springs skate around or will they do what they are
supposed to regardless of ability to move lateraly?
