I'm writing this from the AmeriSuites in Topeka, 6021 SW 6th Street (785)
273-0066 about 20 minutes from the track- it's a pretty nice place, free
breakfast, clean rooms with a little kitchen, cold AC, and internet access
for no extra charge.
I would NOT recommend the ValuePlace thats just a few minutes closer, 1801
SW Westport Road.  We had reservations for ValuePlace that were canceled on
us less than 24 hours prior to our trip because they "overbooked".

As far as eating and drinking...there are many choices within just a few
minutes of the hotel here, it's in a very built up area.  We've only been
to the Longhorn steak house so far, which was very good for a chain type
place, I've also heard that O'Doolys pub and grill is very good although I
have not been there YET.

We are here for the SCCA Solo nationals, so far I've only seen one FOT
here.  I talked with Bob Lang (EP Ford Focus) for a few minutes at the
Sunday test N tune.

The MINI felt good for the Sunday test n tune, although today we realized
that there were some issues with the freshly installed Koni's and the rears
may not have been damping as they should have.  We pulled them off the car
today, and with a little help from Lee, the Koni guy, we were able to fix
them so we should have a completely different and unfamiliar car for our
competition days (Thursday and Friday).  Unfortunately, I have yet to see a
single Triumph here, just FOT guys competing in Non-Triumphs.

I take it your there now? My son Jason is there co-driving a blue 2007 mini
cooper s. Number 66 of 166.  If you see him stop and introduce yourself as a
fellow Fot'r.  He probably can suggest something.
