[Fot] KASTNER CUP CHALLENGE - WATKINS GLEN 2008 - Clarification

I don't know how practical addressing performance differences can be. We
can't do that very well even in our club. I think that we all just have
to accept that if we are truely vintage then we are racing a "point in
time car". We each get to pick out point in time based on the car we
have and the local rules. I may not be able to run with the cars from a
different part of the country that are built to different year specs and
rules but we always have somebody to race with. Being passed by the
Group 44 TR6 is not a problem. It would have heppened back in the day
too.

Clarification

I only included the Kastner Cup Challenge in my subject line because I
inferred from the dialog that the Kastner Cup Challenge was going to be
the name of the event.

My comments were intended to address the issues being addressed by
Keith and others about the differences in preparation of various
competition cars.
Obviously the competitive spirit is alive even amongst the vintage
group.

Frankly, it would be in all of our financial interests to adopt a
uniform standard simply to prevent escalation costs of car
preparation. There was a group within the Porsche club that got smart and
started the 2 liter class with minimal preparation.

The awarding of the Kastner Cup is completely up to Kas, as it should
be. I know Kas applies his own weighting factors. If you want
something done by popular vote, like the MG Collier Cup, then someone
needs to come up with a new cup.
