After combing through available SCCA GCRs and PCSs we have come up with
the following:
The oldest GCR we have on hand is 1987.
This refers to production cars only
1.Forward bracing of the front hoop is required in '87 but we don't
know when it was first required. The showroom stock cages were 6 point
without forward braces but we can't tell or remember if production/GT
cages were ever allowed without forward braces.
2.Cars registered after 1/1/79 are required to have roll cages. This
means that cars which were built and logbooked before 1/1/79 were still
able to race in '87 with only a roll hoop. I don't have a date when the
roll cage was required for all.
FYI I noticed that cells were first required for newly constructed cars
in 1983. I don't know when they became mandatory for all.
