I am in Houston, Tx.
I use Houston Unlimited, Chappell Hill TX.
They do salt bath nitriding by the customer lot. I think it was $125 for up to 125 lbs last time I went so i do several cranks and other parts at one time.
We tested depth at some time in the dark ages, i seem to think it is 0.025 to 0.030 depth with the hardness falling off as you regring the crank to deeper layers.
