It was to WIN.  Being in a class that was being dominated by Lotus 7 clones
with any engine under 2 liters in size, and weighing 1000 popunds, I wanted
to see if I could get a Spitfire to be competitive.

And I found out that the answer is NO.  Despite all the modifications the
weight difference was too great to make up and I could not take enough
weight off my car to get down to their level.  So I just converted the car
to Street legality and am now enjoying freeway driving in it.  (And playing
with the occasional Corevtte)~  :)
