The rules do not mandate a rear axle change. However, it is permitted to do  
this and as an ex-GT6 racer, I wholly recommend an upgrade. There are a number 
 of ways to do this, but I do not have the information to actually walk you  
through it.
 
You should contact the FOT (Friends of Triumph) mailing list and I'm sure  
there will be plenty of help. I will copy several active members and let's see  
if we can get you signed up with FOT.
