I can't say for sure that it's the cause of your problem but that's too  much 
variation in liner heights. I use 2-3 for steel & 4-5 for composition  
gaskets, & make sure to retorque.
Also make sure that you have clearance between the underside of the water  
neck on the front of the head & water pump housing.
