<div dir="ltr">Couple of points I forgot to mention. You'll probably need to back off the mechanical adjusters all the way to get the drum off past the shoes, especially if there's a lip worn on the inside edge of the drums. There may be threaded holes in the drums that let you insert bolts and ease the drums off of the raised section of the axles. All of the holes and fittings on the roadster chassis are SAE, not metric.<div><br></div><div>You will probably need generous amount of penetrating spray (PB Blaster or similar) and maybe some freezing spray to get stubborn fasteners loose. Spray stuck fasteners and let soak overnight. Heat can also help, but be VERY careful.</div></div><div class="gmail_extra"><br><div class="gmail_quote">On Thu, Aug 18, 2016 at 12:50 PM, dave n <span dir="ltr"><<a href="mailto:dave@ranteer.com" target="_blank">dave@ranteer.com</a>></span> wrote:<br><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0 0 0 .8ex;border-left:1px #ccc solid;padding-left:1ex">

<div dir="ltr">All you need to do is remove the shoes, then unfasten the hard line
on the back side of the wheel cylinder. The cylinders on my '70 is held in place
by several slide-in clips that go into slots cast in the cylinder body. Pay
close attention to the order these clips are in. There are exploded views of all
of this on <a href="http://311s.org" target="_blank">311s.org</a>.

<div>The hardest part of the process for me was a previous owner had totally
messed up the flare nut holding the hard line in place. I ended up replacing the
hardline, too, which wasn't cheap. </div></div>
