Same for the '68 and '69, same mounting points. The shoulder mount
on the wheel well arch is really too low to avoid spinal
compression.<br>

Had a '64 VW Bug ordered new with optional lap and shoulder belts;

belts started with the 67 ˝ roadsters. Ahead of the federal
requirement which started in 1973. (same with the locking
steering column). I’ve owned my 67 ˝ 2L since new, so I’m
certain of this. The shoulder belt was anchored to the rear
wheel well by a large chromed bolt and hooked into the lap
belt at the back of the buckle inside the webbing and was
detachable. This arrangement might be a bit different for
high windshield models.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

straps were rotten and the buckles were corroded. I got them
re-chromed and new straps at Snake Oyl (<a
moz-do-not-send="true" href="http://www.ssnake-oyl.com"><a class="moz-txt-link-abbreviated" href="http://www.ssnake-oyl.com">www.ssnake-oyl.com</a></a>).
Wasn’t cheap, the total was on the order of $600 a couple
years ago.<o:p></o:p></p>

buy a nice after-market roll bar with a center bar. Put in a 5
point system with a rear facing stop light. David Premo
67’2000 is the ideal setup here. My guess is total would be on
the order of a few bucks more, but much safer all around!<o:p></o:p></p>
