Has anyone sourced a space saver-type spare tire to fit a Roadster?

I am taking the first baby steps to getting SRL311-13291 back on the road after 35 years. Today I put vehicle dollies under the rear wheels and saw that the right rear tire, which I aired up last September, has a split outer casing ? which it didn't have in September. It is holding air, which is kind of amazing, but the damage is quite impressive. Increasing the pressure in an old and obviously brittle tire must have split the outer belt. 

This reminded me that I will need to replace the spare ? which is an original bias-ply tire and so brittle/shiny that it looks like a glazed doughnut ? and I would like to put a space saver spare back there to recoup a little precious trunk space.

I have a BF Goodrich G78-14 space-saver on a steel rim, designed to be inflated by an accompanying CO2 canister, that I have never used, and hope to never need.

I used a space-saver donut from a 1999 Infiniti G20.? Fits perfectly and doesn't take up much of the precious trunk space.? Since I'm running Panasports, I made sure to put a set of lugnuts with the spare that will work with steel wheels. Here is a photo from when I test fit it on the car:https://flic.kr/p/2pWVvWh

The rim is indeed four-lug, a Topy 14x4.5, the OEM supplier, I believe, from a Datsun 260Z.

But I see the confusion I created, as it is actually a C78-14 space saver spare. 

Not sure where my brain came up with G78?

I guess my first message didn't go through, so... I have a donut-style spare from a 1999 Infinity G20. It fits perfectly and takes up very little of my precious trunk space.? Here is a link to a photo of when I was test-fitting it.

An international audiovisual list serve I?ve be on since the mid ?90s
started randomly bouncing my posts from this gmail address a little over a
year ago so I set up a couple of alternative accounts. I haven?t had any
problems with any of the team net lists that Mark hosts

Weird, but frankly I?m surprised that all of this works as well as it does,
and I been in or around IT since the mid ?80s.
