Can I wire the output to the original output to keep the Amp meter working, or should it go straight to the battery? This is all under the hood of a 1968 1600. I?ve seen many where they just run a wire from that terminal to the Batt lug on the starter. The other pin is not needed, or is mainly used to run the idiot light that tells you when the alternator is not charging. They didn?t show until the 280Zs started using volt meters. You can add one if you like, like the brake test light (if neither side of the light is grounded). According to the diagram, it runs back to a 20amp fuse, the ignition switch, and the ballast resistor. Can I just cut it under the hood and tape it off?
