Agreed, I always considered my 666 car silver, never thought of it as grey

I like that a lot better. It strikes me as more silver than grey. Some of these others make me think "interior semi-gloss latex."
Back in the day (1998) Brian Cano brought his 69 2000 to Shasta. It had the most spectacular SILVER! paint job I've ever seen! It looked like molten silver just poured out of a ladle. I wish I had a picture that did it justice, but I don't.

531 beige gray (silver) metallic was the best roadster color I’ve ever seen.
Of course it was my first roadster, so…

The ones I've seen appear to be solid grey, no metallic.
There are some metallic silver-grey or charcoal grey colors that I like, but so many of these new colors appear to be just industrial paint. Think HVAC systems or electrical power boxes. I predict they will age about as well as the earth tones of the mid 1980's.

Is the new color a metallic silver blue or is it a solid gray?

Not a fan. I'm seeing quite a few new cars in similar shades of grey. I haven't seen one yet that I thought looked good.

Trust me Pat, it works really well!

Michael Spreadury is building sn SR20-powered '66 in a similar shade:

It changes in varying light....to almost the same color shift as the original roadster silver-gray color #666, like Eric' '68

Looks like a great match for that car. Funny, I don’t think it would work on a roadster!

Peace,

Nissan just released photos of a new paint color for the 2023 Z. Photographer Larry Chen shot the new Z at Nissan Design America in San Diego, California:

What's cool is that I took photos of my Datsun Roadster in the same exact location back in 2016 when I was running the Touge California Rally:
