Before the loop took the kids around the block. When I was a kid my Dad would let me "drive" while sitting on his lap...so each kid had their turn "driving" the roadster. Everyone had fun and they even got to see their Mom on her evening walk: https://youtu.be/hFWku2EEffs http://www.zcarblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/IMG_5177.jpeg http://www.zcarblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/IMG_5190.jpeg It wasn't all smiles when we got back to the house...apparently I had interrupted their chores so they got into trouble  Totally worth it to this Dad though! http://www.zcarblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/IMG_5168-1.jpeg -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I'm getting my car painted, and decided, what the heck, maybe I'll try to spruce it up on the inside, too, and fix stuff that's broken, like the radio . I found this guy in Liverpool, NY - Dave Froehlich. He's amazing. I asked him what the chances were of him being able to fix my old Toshiba AM radio, and he e-mailed me back the schematic for it! Off it goes in a box, along with the speaker and a money order for $65, and shortly thereafter I get an e-mail with his assessment. Then more e-mails, keeping me up-to-date on his progress, and even a *movie* to demonstrate the sound he's getting out of it! Here it is, back in my house within two weeks. I sent him a note with another twenty bucks to thank him for being such an attentive service man. I have never heard this radio in the car, and I'm excited to install it and pull that antenna up and go back in time, as it seems like AM tends toward oldies, as well as baseball and weather. What fun this will be. You would probably make this guy's day by sending him another Datsun radio - he appears to live for this stuff. http://www.tubesandtransistorsandmore.com/ Looking forward to spring, which might still come, John On Wed, Sep 29, 2021 at 2:04 PM wrote: > Send Datsun-roadsters mailing list submissions to > datsun-roadsters at autox.team.net > > To subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visit > http://autox.team.net/mailman/listinfo/datsun-roadsters > or, via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' to > datsun-roadsters-request at autox.team.net > > You can reach the person managing the list at > datsun-roadsters-owner at autox.team.net > > When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific > than "Re: Contents of Datsun-roadsters digest..." > > > Today's Topics: > > 1. old radios (dave) > > > ---------------------------------------------------------------------- > > Message: 1 > Date: Tue, 28 Sep 2021 19:48:19 -0500 > From: "dave" > To: > Subject: [Roadsters] old radios > Message-ID: <000401d7b4cb$b2cba410$1862ec30$@ranteer.com> > Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" > > Something like a decade ago, there was a member on this list who's father > had retired from a career as an electronics tech. he rebuilt my old car > radio from the 50's, tubes and all.
