Just a reminder folks, the parking corral is FREE and spectating is FREE
for those who participate! Simply drive and park your vintage car in the
corral, and watch the races!
Usually there is an entrance fee to watch races and you have to park very
far from the paddock. This corral is INSIDE the paddock with all of the
race cars.

On the hunt for Datsuns, I came across a new roadster owner! This is
Michael Quinn's '70 2000. He purchased it in SoCal and drove it up to San
Francisco recently.

On Sunday 6/13 I attended Morning Motors Cars and Coffee event in Santa

One great perk about DWA's C&C is the location... some of the best driving
roads are close by. It's also minutes away from downtown Santa Cruz and
miles of beaches along HWY 1. I highly recommend checking it out. After the

I'm having some issues with the brakes, and since I don't know how old the
hoses are I thought I would start there.

 

I'm guessing I remove this, then I can unscrew the hose from this and from

Hi Dave,
The list is text only, pics get scrubbed, but here is how brake lines go.
Hard lines along frame, then flex lines for suspension travel.
C clips hold lines into brackets, then un thread soft lines from hard lines making sure to hold hard lines using a flare line wrench.
This is open end, but holds more than just 2 flats, so is less prone to stripping.
If soft lines are suspect, go braided steel with teflon lining wherever possible.
That bring said, because of heat this is a bigger benefit on cluth lines.
Start every brake bleed session with adjusting rear shoes as close to drum as possible, and hand brake so that only 3 clicks till fully locked. (This makes a difference. I learned years later, thanks Keith Williams)

Wonder if there is an air bubble in that line? It appears to be much higher than the calipers.

1. What are the issues?

2. It can be awkward, but you should be able to read the manufacture dates of the three brake hoses without removing them.

3. That hard line looks funky. Regardless, if you aren't going to remove the caliper, you should disconnect the hardline from the caliper before removing the bolt that holds the connector block where the hose and hardline meet.

I?m having some issues with the brakes, and since I don?t know how old the hoses are I thought I would start there.



I?m guessing I remove this, then I can unscrew the hose from this and from the mount?

For some reason, when I email this list from my phone, the text doesn't?appear and only shows, "An HTML attachment was scrubbed..." even though I didn't send photos.
So, I'm trying this from the computer:
Shasta was a blast.? It was 99 degrees that day, but we braved the heat and had about 45 cars there. I took a few photos, including a Weber carbureted SR20 and some interesting wheels I've never seen before. The owner believed they were Western brand, but he bought them in the early 70's and couldn't remember.? Heres a link to pics. Enjoy.
