I did not mean he is personally an idiot. Neither is Chumley in real life from what I heard. It is just made for TV. Besides he did pick a roadster to showcase.I compleately agree it is the best car show on the Motor Channel.Dave

Mike Brewer is no idiot like 'Chumlee'...he is an extremely knowledgable car enthusiast and accomplished driver. Ant Anstead (the mechanic in that episode) and Brewer's former partner in England, Edd China, are highly regarded mechanics. One of the best shows on Motor Trend Channel!

" WHEELER DEALERS" did a half hour show on the Datsun Roadster. Season 16 Episode 12.There are 2 British guys, one a pretty fair restoration mechanic. The other is the shows clown like a "chumley" that finds and buys the cars and of coarse sells them at a profit.The car was a 69 roadster. First you don't know what it really is because it has a 1600 grill, U20 engine and NO side markers.
The mechanic does a really great job doing an idler arm re bush and front end rebuild. Tig welded the header and front pipe. A REALLY great part on fitting VOLVO brakes to the front with prices. Also rebork on the brake peddle arm for people with BIG FEET. Really informative.The car had no top frame. Chumley found one and the upholstery shop did a great job showing a frame refinish with a heat gun. That alone made the show worth while for me. I learned something. They redid the seats in correct material.
 The bad parts. Car had J C Whitney mirrors. REALLY CRAPPY red side trim. A front bumper made of chrome twigs from a lawn shed. In correct lights and grill. Claimed to sell the car for $14000.
They do some great cars though. One on the Volvo Amazon was pretty good.
