I have to agree with Ron on the engine drawing the price down. 

If you are going to do all the effort of an engine swap, an SR20DE or KA24DE would make it far more exciting. 

Also, the engine on the motor stand it looks to be an L20B not an L16, but as carb'd, it would still be on the lower side of the fun meter.

It take some work, but it can be done. The work on the car in general looks very nice, but it looks like the L-16 is basically stock which would yield the same horsepower, 96, as the original R-16. For me the swap would definitely take a bunch away from the $28K asking price.

Another Craig’s List ad. Body-off restoration, with an L-16. I thought that the L-16 didn’t fit well in the Roadster’s engine compartment because it was too tall?
