[Roadsters] Roof Clamp Problems

So I was trying to put my hardtop on today for the first time just to see how it would fit and the three clamps that secure the top to the windshield do not lock down tightly.  One locks down but is very loose.  The other two don't even go flat.  I have a similar problem with the soft top with one of the clamps.  Is there a trick to this?  Can they be made so the top locks down more securely?  Any help would be appreciated.
