This listserve removes all attachments, so we didn't get the photo.
If the device in question is an aluminum can similar to what is mounted to
the side of the distributor with one lead connecting to the + coil terminal,
and no other lead on it, it is a condenser that is intended to reduce static
in the radio. Almost any condenser will work for this and leaving it
disconnected shouldn't hurt anything either. Why are you looking to replace
it?

Please note the photo.I have a 1969 1600 and would like to know;is this a
secondary resister (or condenser)on top of my coil. It is connected to the
"+" terminal, same as the ceramic resister. The dealer said they were not
available but gave me a part # 22460-014606. I am having trouble finding
one. How necessary is it? Does anyone know what would happen if I
unplugged it? The ceramic resister would still be attached to the "+"
terminal.
