Thanks for the info Gary, you are right I wasn't very clear.
I was setting the clutch release level thru the stroke, not the pedal height,
so was using the slave rod cup/jam nut.
I went to Speedbleeders on all 4 wheels plus the clutch slave, so that is why
I got to this re-install and found it a different size.
Oh, and by the way, I have never got Speedbleeders to work as perfectly as
they describe, so still use the "open while tubing is attached, tube goes itno
container of fluid" technique. What they don't account for (in my experience)
is that the wrench only has 45 degrees open to closed, so how do you get the
speedbleeder to hang the wrench weight at the perfect opening degree for it to
work like a one way valve.

Too late for this evolution but:
I don't think you can adjust the slave cylinder operating rod to affect pedal
height. The specification for the slave cylinder operating rod is have about
1/16-inches of play between the rounded end of the nut on the operating rod
and the clutch fork when the slave cylinder return spring is disconnected.
You should be able to find a piece of Tygon tubing which will fit snugly over
the nipple on the slave bleeder valve. I've always fed and pumped just like I
do the brakes. (One of these days I my invest in speed bleeders.)
