[Roadsters] No brakes!

I only see master cylinder failure when the seal fails and fluid runs down the
firewall all over your left leg. My 67 1600 had a problem and it turned out
to be the fluid distributor (?) . Its the part with the brake light wires
plugged in the top. I changed out the screw on top and it solved my problem.
Try checking it.

Gary,

I've gone the kit route in the
past. I'm pretty sure that the M/C in
my '66 is the original factory part
with just one kit installed years ago.
The key issue is the cylinder bore. Is
it smooth or pitted. If it is
pitted, you can try honing it, but I'd go for a
new part at that point. Lots
of things on the car can fail and not threaten
your life, but the brake M/C is
one that can hurt you.

Subject: [Roadsters] No brakes!

Driving to work today I
tried to stop and
the pedal went straight to the
floor.

I pumped the brakes
and got some
pressure, but not much, and I was only able
to stop by using the
handbrake and
downshifting.

The fluid level is still high, so I assume it is
just a bad
master cylinder,
anyone disagree?

Any views on rebuilding or
just getting a
new one?
