[Roadsters] How hot is hot??

following up on the thread of valves needing proper adjustments - when
adjusting hot, how long do you have to make the adjustment before the engine
is cool? 

I spend a lot of time pushing the car back and forth with the
engine in gear to get the valves in the proper orientation.  It must take me
longer than 20 minutes to get all 8 valves. 

Better ideas on this process?
