[Roadsters] Windshield trim

"I'll be installing a high windshield and the stainless trim pieces on my 70
roadster soon. If I recall from many years ago, I did an install of the
windshield and rubber gasket first and then attempted to install the
stainless trim pieces onto the rubber gasket. No Go on that idea. I think I
was told by someone on the list that I should assemble the trim pieces onto
the rubber gasket before the install and that will work. Does that sound
correct?"

Speaking of this, does anyone know of a way to remove the windshield
weatherstrip without destroying it?
