Graeme,
Neither link worked, so I have not seen your picture. Shutterfly wanted me
to sign in with a password.
I don't know about the 310, but on 311s, the seal is glued to the top bow.
The "slit" goes over the front edge of the sheet metal pieces which screw to
the top bow and holds the front edge of the top fabric in place. The
hardtop I once had for the car had a separate weatherstrip glued to the
hardtop.
