Early on I decided not to have a show car, but to have one that was
presentable and drivable.  I've had my car from 1986 and it has only been
non-drivable for a couple of days.  I do have installation ready extras of
most needed items, like motors, transmissions,  heads . . . . so if anything
fails, it's a quick swap in.   My fear was if I tried to do a body off or
something extreme, that I would just end up with boxes of bits that would
never get put back together. 

 

I haven't been driving the car as much in the last 10 years, so things don't
brake as frequently.
