And I would guess a lot of us enjoy both roadster & early 240z

I have an early 67 1600, 67.5 2000 & 70 240z

Gary thanks for posting. Many years have passed since the Roadster was
shunted aside by the new 240Z. I always was reluctant to get into the
comparison and rivalry because the cars were built for different
purposes.

But I started defending the Roadster in the 1980s after the "Z" had
gone soft, become a 4-door (or was it a 4-seater?) and really could no
longer be considered a "sports car,"

As time passed, I started letting myself appreciate the early Z, maybe
the first couple years, before smog controls and de-tuning took hold.
Now, as with this one you've highlighted, finding one that preserves
the original, very appealing look is indeed unusual, and well worth
considering for those who've wanted one.

The few people I've encountered who own such cars ALSO have had a deep
appreciation of Datsun's sporting heritage, as reflected in the cars
we prefer, the two-seat convertibles. Instead of hostility or
rivalry, today brings a chance to share the enthusiasm for a classic
old sports car.
