Actually it is pretty easy to just replace the light socket with a new one
that you can get at any auto store. The sockets are press fit.  See the

  Having owned my '69 since 1996, I figured it was time to make the side

lights work again.  I have all the fixtures, but none have working light

sockets in them.  All corroded and some are broken off inside.  One still

has a base of a light bulb in it, and it refuses to budge!



  So, has anybody drilled out the old sockets and used new ones?  What

sockets did you use?
